The organizing work for the European Shore Championship to be held from Akureyri, North-Iceland 1st May to 4th May 2019 is going well. Here are the fishing rules for the venue.

The Championship will be fished to the EFSA General Shore Fishing Rules governing at the time of the Championship unless otherwise stated.

  1. Only one rod and reel may be used at the time, a second rod may be assembled but no terminal tackle attached.

  2. A maximum of two hooks are allowed on a trace. No trebles are allowed.

  3. Spare baited traces are allowed.

  4. No wading above knee level.

  5. Competitors must return to their peg on the foreshore after casting. Competitors are not allowed to leave their peg while their trace is in the sea.

  6. No pendulum casting is allowed.

  7. Anglers will be drawn into their zones at registration and must fish from their allocated peg as drawn at peg no. 1 at their zone, one hour prior to the session.

  8. The only bait allowed is the one supplied by EFSA Iceland with NO bait additives.

  9. Unused bait must be disposed of at the end of each session and not carried over.

  10. Competitor must kill all good size fish and put them in a supplied box at their peg before he/she can reel in again.

  11. Undersized fish must be returned.

  12. Competitors trying to increase the length of any fish will be disqualified.

  13. Stewards will be on each zone collecting and measuring the fish for the competitors and signing their score card. All fish caught is the property of EFSA Iceland.

  14. Each angler must return their score card to the steward at the end of the session and sign the master-card for their score before leaving the beach. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

  15. Anglers must remove all litter, bait and dead fish from their peg on the shore at the end of each session.

  16. The Organizers shall not be liable for any loss or damage incurred during the Championship.

  17. The relevant team captain must hand any complaint, in writing, to the Organizers within 1 hour of the end of the session.

  18. All fish are measured in centimetres and must be over 20 centimetres except for Cod and Coalfish which must be over 35 centimetres. Ray or Skate must be measured across the wings.

  19. The protest committee will consist of Phil Lusting (EFSA HQ), Helgi Bergsson (EFSA Iceland), and three other committee members from representing Sections.

  20. The results will be published two hour prior to the Prize giving.
